2018-6

Sunday in California was spent with all of the family watching the superbowl.  I'm bummed I didn't take any pictures but the kids had such a great time playing cards and catch and getting lots of attention from all of their aunts and uncles.
Monday we spent the day at the beach.
I'm thinking a beach vacation is going to be a must half way through winter from now on.
Nini bought the kids a sand box kit from CVS and they could have stayed playing in the sand the entire day.
Mav was afraid of the water but having dirt and a truck made for the perfect day for him.

Tuesday we went down to explore cannery row.
 Run, Forest, Run.
We had a great time at the aquarium.
Mav loved exploring all of the touch pools and could have stayed there for hours.
 Mandatory picture in the shell.
And our favorite part of the aquarium.
The entire day we kept trying to get a picture of Maverick and Colten together, but this is the best we got.

Mav picked out a squid hat too but was over it after a few minutes.  Chris then wore it the entire time we were at the aquarium.  They both rocked it.
And after we had to get one last hour at the beach.
 I have no words.
Taking these two to the grocery store is always a challenge.
Wednesday we left the sand behind for snow.  Not much snow but I'm now a big fan of skiing in warm weather.
The kids were obsessed with the huge pine cones we found all over Tahoe.  Pais hid hers and after our second day skiing found it and we brought it home.
Little kids in ski gear might possible be the cutest thing ever.
And this pretty much sums up Mav's experience at Diamond peak.
Pais on the other hand couldn't wait to ski and nothing scared her.
She fell once or twice and then took off like she'd been skiing all her life.
Pretty soon she was teaching me how to ski.
And since she was doing so good Chris dragged me off the bunny hill.  I cried.
And now for a whole bunch of selfies on chair lifts.

That night Mav got wild and had shots of chocolate milk.
Friday was round two of skiing.
Mav and Nini had a great time at the park.
The views at Diamond Peak were so awesome.
And that pretty much sums up my pictures of day two.  These three left me for bigger and better things and I hung out making friends with other people who equally lacked my skill at skiing.
Saturday was a take it easy day before we had to make the long trek home.
We played at a really cool park on the beach of Lake Tahoe.
Pais was pretty mad about not being able to swim.

Afterwards we introduced our kids to the bright and shiny world of casinos.  They seriously loved walking though them.  Shiny lights and the smell of cinnabon, every kids dream.
We spent way too much time playing this candy game in the arcade.  The kids were obsessed and it wouldn't stop going even though we only put in one token.
The other highlight of the casino, escalators.
Proof we really are insane and drove 16 hours.
