Busy

It's crazy how fast December flies by and amazing how many things you can cram into one little month. Already this month we have gone to Bethelehem where we were greeted by a very upset girl was on her cell phone whining about wanting to go home but was nice enough to pause and "welcome"us to Bethlehem. We discovered Huntley is afraid of "mallas" and "melcams" but loves Baby Jesus and was extremely excited to see him. We went to the annual Davis family Christmas party where much to my dismay both Huntley and Chris were afraid of the ball pit so we didn't get to leave with any of that great Uncle Boyd loot. We discovered one little girl will only go potty if she has a magazine but decided not to push the potty training because who really wants to find a potty every 15 minutes while walking around Mexico. We spent 2 days sick where we did 25 loads of laundry, took 15 baths, and watched Cool Runnings 5 million times. Why Huntley is obsessed with bobsleds I still have not figured out. We tried to sit on Santa's lap at 3 different occassions but got a loud "No Way!!!" each time we got close to the jolly old elf. We had 1 broken toe that is still poking in the wrong direction so we're debating if we want to squeeze in 1 trip to the doctor. Last but not least we spent 3 days getting 1/2 of a roof reshingled only to have the weather get in the way. So now we are going against the grain of the whole world and hoping for a green Christmas or at least one nice shiny day this week we can become the owners of our very own house. If so then hopefully we'll finish off the moving lots and lots of boxes.

November

Yep we are at the tail end of this month and I haven't wrote once. Not much has happened besides Huntley turning from my sweet little baby girl into a sassy two year old who thinks her name is "mine." Any tips on teaching your child their own name would be greatly appreciated!

We started off the month with Huntley mastering the art of climbing out of her crib and Chris and I experiencing our first encounter of waking up to someone starting at you in the dark. Creepy. Lucky for us she now has a big girl bed that is high enough off the ground she doesn't dare climb down.

In January we are going on a cruise to Mexico. You're all jealous now right! Well don't be. One particularly blustery day I thought I'd get online to see all the fun things we could do in the nice warm weather. Of course the pool was number one until I read all children must be potty trained in order to go in the pool. We had Potty Training Boot Camp the past few days that ended with both Huntley and I in tears. I don't think it's going to happen in a month. Now our options consist of dealing with a screaming Huntley who can't go in the pool or taking her in without a diaper and hope she doesn't pee while swimming. Doesn't that make you want to tag along.

Costumes in Advance

The day we found out Huntley would be Huntley instead of Wyatt Earp my mom happened to be in Disneyland. I am extremely greatful for the invention of cell phones so I could call and let her know that she was going to have a granddaughter. Of course she was thrilled and would do what any soon to be grandma would do and went to the closest gift shop and bought her a cute little Minnie Mouse dress. I'm also greatful Disney has their sizes messed up and size 3T Huntley now finally fits into the size 12 months Minnie Dress. So now when we have a stubborn little girl who again refused to be a pumpkin princess or a bee we were able to pull out the Minnie dress and she was thrilled to put it on.Happy Halloween!

No Treats for Huntley

Last night was our ward Trunk-or-Treat and Huntley was supposed to be a gorgeous pumpkin princess. When we tried to get her in her costume we discovered she didn't want to be a pumpkin princess which left us scrambling to find a costume at the last minute and what better to use than duck tape of course.
Originally I'd bought black pants and a shirt to wear under her costume so we figured three stripes of yellow duck tape and voila she's a bee.
Apparently having your parents try and wrap duck tape around you is traumatic so we ended up enjoying cereal rather than giving out the $20 worth of candy I had bought. Now we are extra prepared for the trick'or'treaters that don't come to our house and I'll probably be able to document myself growing larger each week.

Pumpkins

Sometimes I wonder about traditions and where they came from. I'm sure there is some fascinating story behind jack'o'lanterns and I'm sure one day I probably heard it in elementary school but for now I think the whole reason behind pumpkins was so people could have a nice prop to take pictures with in the fall.

I just wish my pumpkin pictures included this as my pumpkin patch. I'd say someday but I don't think fireman make that kind of money.
Instead I'll just be glad there are crazy people like this so someday Chris will get a job!

Food Storage

The past month we've been spending a lot of time canning, freezing, drying to get ready for the winter. Poor Chris isn't a big fan of celebrating "corn day" or substitue any fruit or vegetable of your choice and decided we'd spend this weekend doing "food storage" his style.
Advantages of doing food storage Chris's way are getting to see the mountains freshly frosted in all their fall glory.
Disadvantages of his way are almost falling asleep standing while enjoying the view because he starts food storage day at 2:30 in the morning.

Winning advantage of Chris's food storage methods: One day fills the whole freezer plus some instead of one shelf of the pantry!

2

It's been 2 whole months since I last wrote on this thing! In honor of those 2 months I'm devoting a post to the number 2 and the best way to start it off would be by showing this little lady who turned 2 years old! In honor of Huntley's birthday we had 2 special visitors spend 2 hours on a plane to come celebrate with us. We love when they come to stay and wish it would happen more often.

Since our Xterra was stolen Chris bought this huge 250 (that I'm still way too scared to drive) and now we've been able to start using our camper again. We've went camping twice to Hoop Lake in search of the elusive moose.
We had a lot of fun in August taking advantage of 2 dollar Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point. We went twice, first to the farm with cousins and the next week Huntley and I spent a fun evening walking around the gardens with the Gonzales's.

Last but not least we have to show the 2 makeover pictures below. We ran the Dirty Dash with our other fellow Great Googely Moogilies and way 2 much fun.

Yes mud is still coming out of Chris's ears!

For Real!!!

This is our neighborhood:
This is our house (well not our house but the house we live in the basement of):

This is where we parked our car:
Key word here is "parked." As in past tense and no longer happening. If you get what I'm saying my car is gone, missing, STOLEN!!! I know that cars get stolen but I always thought that was just something that happens in the movies and honestly couldn't believe it had really happened. Neither could Chris as he was riding around the neighborhood on his bike wondering where it went, but yes it is gone and may never be seen again by us. Which I'm actually hoping for after the police officer told us it was more than likely being used to smuggle drugs, who wants to drive their child around in a car that was once full of meth!
You can imagine the pitty party I've been throwing for myself today, yeah it was big. Not necessarily for the car but the items in the car, Huntley's car seat, Chris's textbooks, fishing rods, and our video camera that I've neglected uploading the videos off of from Huntley's first steps on. Right at the moment I was feeling most sorry for myself a coworker came to my office. I immediatley thought of the trial he has been dealing with of the recent loss of his daughter and realized my simple trial of a stolen car really wasn't all that bad. I may be carless and can't watch videos of Huntley as a baby but at least I still can watch Huntley in person.

Flaming Gorge Favorites

4th of July weekend is our annual family trip to Flaming Gorge and the past few years we've been lucky enough to drive up then be able to go home at the end of the day, wash off the campfire smell, and sleep in our own bed. Not this year we were roughin it with Grandpa Davis in his trailer which suprisingly has a bed that is more comfortable than ours. The weekend was great and we've narrowed it down to our favorite things.
  1. Chris-watching Crazy old men make stoves out of stumps and cooking things on them.
  2. Jess-fishing Hacking Lake (my favorite place in the whole wide world!!!)
  3. Huntley-the Outhouse. Disgusting yes but true. She loved going in there, looking down the hole, and declaring "Poop" in the loudest voice she could muster.

Month of May

I've defintiley struggled with keeping this thing up to date lately. Maybe it's because we are finally starting to get warmer weather and I'd rather be outside. Or maybe it's because Huntley broke our space bar and to actually type is quite the challenge. When it probably comes down to it though I'd have to say the real reason I haven't posted is every time I've sat down to blog I can't decide what to write about. Now I'm finally forcing myself to do a catch up post so that I can start posting about our fun summer adventures.

One of the best things that happened to us was we got to finally say hello to Scott. He's only been in this world for a few short days but already he's taken a big part of my heart and is the cutest nephew anyone could ask for. We also said goodbye to my grandma this month. She was an amazing lady and a great example to me in my life. My favorite thing about my grandma was how she could always make me laugh, who else feeds the missionaries KFC for Sunday dinner or tries to board an airplane with her Blockbuster card for identification.
I miss her lots everyday but luckily I have these two little cuties to keep me happy.
Chris spent some time in Montana trying to get a job or so he says. I kind of wonder if he really just wanted to spend some time in the Big Sky country looking for animals and sheds.
Unfortunately he wasn't lucky enough to become a Montana fireman. Fortunately for Huntley that gives her more time to spend being goofy with her two best buddies.
I'm also glad we get to stay so we get to spend time with Camo when he comes to visit. Throughout all of this we even found time to do a little fishin. Well Chris did, Huntley and I spent a couple hours throwing rocks in the lake. She's not much of a fisherman but at least we can now take her without having to worry about her crying the whole time.

Graduation Vacation

The last 16 weeks Chris has been working really hard with these guys, In order to make it to this day,
And because of his hard work these guys,

took our family for some much needed R&R here,

where it was freezing cold but we still got to do lots of fun things like,

learn to drive,
or make plans to join all of these crazies,

looking for something that these things lost,
but ended up coming down with the stomach flu in the middle of the night so we had to turn to our backup plan of hanging out in the room, which was still really fun.
Last but not lease we left Chris here to hopefully come home with a job,

Good Luck on your test Chris!

Family Day at RCA

Huntley and I got to visit Chris at school today and witness firsthand what he's been up to lately. Why putting out fires of course, and saving one rusty old building at a time. Although he is not one of the above firefighters. Look below that firefighter laying out a red tarp would be my hardworking hubby. He had the important job of rescuing and saving any injured firefighters. Unfortunately for him, no firefighters were injured for this blog post and he had to stand around looking kind of bored.
It was still fun to go watch him in action and I'm so proud of how hard he's worked these past few months.
