Huntley says
Huntley can't speak. Well don't tell her that because she talks all day long it just isn't understandable. Anyways last night I had to work so Chris took her with him to his search and rescue training. While they were there Huntley got to play with Osage, the search and rescue bloodhound. She loved the dog and thought it was the coolest thing, go figure because my little sisters shitzu scares her to death. I guess Huntley talked to the dog all night and whenever she would get Osage to make noises she would crack up like it was the greatest thing. This morning as I was getting her dressed and she was babbling away about something very important I asked her if she played with the puppy last night. She looked at me and said "Dog, woof woof" and then continued on with whatever else she had been babbling about before. So now the past eight hours I've been trying to get her to say it again but all we get is Huntley language, oh well someday I'll understand her.

Ode to No Pudge
The past few months I have been working really hard to get rid of the extra pounds from Huntley, more like the extra pounds I gained after giving birth to Huntley and then proceeding to eat everything in sight. Well I happened upon these wonderful FAT FREE brownies that are to die for. (Actually my mom found them years ago and eats them all the time but now that I'm being healthy I decided to eat them too.) I finally talked Chris into trying them and he couldn't believe how good they were either. That was a mistake because now he's going to eat them and I won't be able to hog them all to myself. Since they are probably number three on my list of loves, 1-Chris, 2-Huntley, 3-No Pudge Brownies, I had to dedicate a post to these wonderful little treats that I think about all day and devour at night, oh how I love you No Pudge Brownies.Friday, April 17, 2009

Awkward Situations
I am beginning to wonder if Huntley has very manly features. Ever since she was born, especially when she was little, people would ask if she was a boy or a girl. I guess I didn't help matters by dressing her in camo all of the time. Although I think that as she has gotten older she definitley looks like a little girl. I am questioning my judgement. Twice in the past week Huntley has been mistaken for a boy. The first was by an older gentleman who I work with and yesterday by the nurse who was checking my blood pressure. Now I understand that yes it is hard to tell with a baby with little hair, but both times she was dressed in 100% pink, head to toe. I don't want to make people feel bad so I just go along with letting them assume she is a boy but the whole time I feel really awkward and want to shout "She's wearing pink, who dresses a little boy in all pink!". Should I speak up and say nope sorry she is a girl, or is that rude? Huntley will you please grow some hair so we can start doing piggies.

All about Easter
We had a great Easter Weekend, in fact it was so much fun we turned it into a three day event.
Huntley and I started off the festivities on Saturday by going to the Dutch John Easter Egg Hunt. We found two eggs which I think is pretty good for not even being a year old.
Later on that day the Easter bunny came to our house. Without any competition Chris and Huntley were able to find all of the eggs on their very own.
Grandma, Grandpa, and Auntie April sent a basket full of all sorts of goodies that we had a lot of fun playing with.
Huntley's favorite part was the crinkly sound the plastic on the outside made. She was kind of upset when I took it off and made her see what was inside. After that we had a crazy snow filled drive down to Utah County, imagine going 10 mph across Strawberry, we thought we would die of boredom. We spent Sunday going to church and having a yummy dinner with family. Huntley got lots of attention, four grandmas in one room equals one spoiled little girl. Then we finished the day off with a lot less exciting drive back to our mountain.

To Hide or Not to Hide
The year before Josh left I was living with my parents, finishing up school while Chris was living on the mountain, but he came down to visit me for Easter. I woke up bright and early on Saturday morning and hid eggs then proceeded to wake up the above three and have them find the eggs. They weren't as thrilled as me but walked around looking for eggs. I only hid 2 dozen eggs and after a long time they hadn't found them all. I insisted they keep looking until every last egg was found. After a while they must have got annoyed with my persistence and told me that they had found all the eggs and went inside. Well they are all liars!!! Later on that summer as my dad was mowing the weeds he found one of my eggs. Moral of this walk down memory lane: make a map of where you hide the eggs so your husband and siblings can't lie and get out of finding them all.

Embarrassment
After my last post Chris has been commenting on how I picked the least attractive pictures I could find of Huntley and put them on the blog. He thinks 10 years down the road she is going to be complaining and embarrassed. As I was thinking of this I thought back to my growing up years and I only remember one time in my life ever being embarrassed by something my mother did. I was in Jr. High (that explains it all) and she came to bring me something at school during lunch wearing the exact same outfit as me, matching overalls. Although considering that is the only thing I can think of ever being embarrassing I sure hope Huntley takes after my personality and finds me as unembarrassing as I find my own mother. Personality is my only hope since it's obvious who she takes after in looks.

Cousins
One of the things I was most excited about having a baby at the same time as my sister would be that our kids would be the best of friends and I would be able to take lots of adorable pictures of the two of them together. Well one of those things is true, Huntley is now past her self centeredness and is aware Russell exists. He was the lucky one who got all of her kisses this weekend. I also thought our picture taking opportunities would improve now that they are both older and can sit and react to the camera. Think again!!!
Soon after this Russell learned to move and pictures turned out really great. Russell moving around while Huntley was stuck like a bump on a log.
Finally Huntley can stay in a sitting position and I was excited to take their picture together. Well as you can see that went really well. Huntley looks like a deer caught in the headlights and Russell was more interested in licking a rubber duck. Motherhood sure wasn't what I expected!
