Beautiful

I know, I know. Way overkill on all my daily posts referring to the girls but since I'm just so incredibly unbeautiful these days (definitely a perk of having your hubby gone is being able to slack on the personal hygiene (sorry anyone else I spend time with!)) when I think of beautiful I think my girls have that quality covered. I just love kissing their gorgeous little cheeks!

Personality

One of my favorite things about having two kids is how different they are. Both girls each have their own little personality and I love watching it develop and grow.

Paisley is pretty much a perfect baby. She's a big ball of happiness and always is smiling. She is so mellow and let's her big sis run the show. Rarely does she get upset and if she does usually she just wants some alone quiet time in her bed.

Huntley is definitely the princess out of the two. She wants things her way and makes sure we all know it. Her stubborn side drives me crazy but I'm sure down the road I'll be grateful she is so strong willed. Hunt can also be really sweet and makes sure to always ask if I'm happy. I love that she watches out for me.

A Number

17. That is the number of days AFTER mothers day that it took me to mail out Linda's mother's day card. Yes I am the worst daughter-in-law ever. The only thing I have going for me is I'm her only daughter-in-law so that means I don't have any competition for being the best. Definitely the only way I would be able to win that title.

We love you Nini!

Weather

Today was perfect! Not to hot, not to cold, but exactly the right temperature. We chased a few raccoons, tried to relinquish the garden back from the weeds, and used a whole bottle of shampoo to try and make lots of bubbles in the tub. The last one was all Huntley and kind of ruined the perfect day but heres to the start of a new week and hopefully more patience on my part.

12:00

Yesterday at 12:00 I snapped this picture. I'd went to steal a bunch of flower starts from my mom and Melanie. It was cold. Huntley and Izzy were helping me and then disappeared for a little bit. They reappeared at 12:00 with Izzy in the following ensemble. She was cold. I wonder if they make it in a plus size so she can wear next winter chasing lions?

Unusual

Yesterday was the least unusual day ever. Huntley woke us up by saying she had wet the bed. Unfortunately for this week this has been the usual. She wanted lucky charms for breakfast, her everyday request even though she usually gets pancakes. We spent the day making messes, cleaning messes, and repeating a constant cycle of those two things which is also our usual. Our big excitement was going to the flower store which put Huntley into a state of utter bliss. That's the usual effect flowers have on her. We ended the day with a walk where Paisley and Izzy fell asleep and that is what usually happens on our walks. Not once did I get a picture of something unusual so I'll just have to settle for something usual. At least our usual is pretty cute.

Something New

Today we tried out a new park. It wasn't my favorite so our hunt for the perfect park continues. At least the girls seemed to enjoy themselves.

Technology

When I was little the coolest place to go was Chuckee Cheese. Greasy pizza, creepy characters to hug, and arcade games definitely equaled a good time. My girls don't know how good they have it concerning entertainment. Then again as their mom I'm glad there is more options of fun places to take them. I don't know if bounce houses would technically be classified as technology but Huntley had the best time bouncing away for 2 hours and I had a pretty good time watching her play. Now if I would have just been smart enough to wear socks I could have gotten in on the fun.

Where I Stand

Today I stood in the mountains.

I stood watching pure joy on Huntley's face as she reeled in fish after fish.

I stood watching wonder as Paisley sat on the grass taking in all the beautiful things of the world.

I stood watching happiness as two little girls walked down a path with their daddy and puppies.

I stood knowing I have a pretty great life and I can definitely stand that.

Something I Can't Live Without

I'm slacking already! I guess that means I'll be able to look back and tell when Chris is home and I'm not bored at night. I got a nice surprise really late Saturday night when a hairy soot covered man walked in the door. When he went back today his engine was broken down so right now we are soaking up daddy time. Luckily for me he's having a little rest with the girls and I'm enjoying my 5 minutes of piece.

Yesterdays topic was something I can't live without and hands down that would be my family. Then to take it even farther the knowledge that my family is forever. I can't imagine being any happier than spending eternity with my girls and the rest of our family.

Favorite Place

My first thought of my favorite place is definitely Hacking Lake. That little lake has been my favorite place in the whole wide world for as long as I can remember. Since I couldn't exactly run out and take a picture of it (although I'm pretty sure I could have convinced Chan to take a spur of the moment drive with me) I spent the day trying to think of some place local I love.

Nothing was coming to mind until this evening when I'd just gotten paisley out of the tub and we started to snuggle in the recliner. Huntley wanted to be included to and climbed up on the armrest. Immediately I realized that any place I'm holding my girls in my arms is my favorite place. I hope it's their favorite place as well. If they can grow up knowing they can always come to me and feel loved then I will have succeeded as a mother.

Chris on the other hand would probably say his favorite place is a toss up between home and somewhere with big fire. Luckily tonights big fire included a view of home. It was nice to be able to watch out my window and see smoke and know where he was. Hooray for local fires!

Something I made

Originally when I saw today's topic my mind went to crafts and all the projects I've started and never finished. I get so excited about all of the neat ideas I see on pinterest and can't wait to try them out but unless they involve the final project being eaten it usually ends up in the pile of random things. I figured for todays picture I would have to show my big pile of unfinished stuff.

Luckily Chris sent me a text asking for a favor and the girls and I were able to leave the county for the day. We went down south to pick up the newest member of our family who still has yet to be named. So instead of a lame picture I'm able to show how happy I made my little girls today by getting them a new friend. And hopefully I also made there daddy really happy by saying yes to another dog and supporting his crazy hobby.

Snack

Today was a pretty crazy day and instead of eating actual meals we snacked all day. This morning the girls were given cereal to snack on during our morning walk. Afterwards we went to ma's where we made strawberry jam and ate a whole lot of strawberries. Dinner was a rush before we had to get out the door so when we finally got home for the night poor Hunt was starving. She snuck some celery in the tub which I thought was pretty smart considering her usual snacks would probably get a little soggy.

Huntley also cracks me up with the things she says. It seems when I need her to cooperate the most with me is when she wants to let her free spirit run wild. We battled a lot today over what she should and needed to be doing. Apparently she wasn't a big fan since she just prayed that tomorrow I'd be Huntley and she'd be mom so she could be the boss. It made me laugh and feel bad at the same time but now I think we just might switch roles tomorrow.

What we are reading

We read a lot at our house. Whenever we get bored the library is the first place we head. We're regulars there. Except when the mean librarian is working. She's scary so if we see her we turn around and leave.

Today Huntley was a big fan of "Are you my mother?" by P.D. Eastman. That was one of my favorite books to read at my grandma Davis's when I was little. I used to climb in her big coat closets that were right above the book drawers and snuggle up between the coats to read. Huntley made me read the book 5 million times but since I could almost smell my grandparents old house while I read it didn't bother me at all.

Paisley read (actually ate) her who loves baby picture book. She read it on our walk and was kind enough to throw it on the ground several times so I'd have to pick it up and use different muscles. I'm hoping it lead to more calories burned and that she was just trying to help me get rid of some of the weight she was kind enough to give me.

Chris is currently reading "Leadership tactics of Atilla the Hun". I don't have much to say about that other than when I saw him pick it out I pictured him turning into the bad guy off of Mulan. Watch out China.

As for me, the best thing I read today was the gas bill. I've been going to drastic measures lately to save money here and there and it was nice to see it's paying off.

Love

What a general topic! I love lots of things so I narrowed it down to one of the biggest loves of my life right now, my double stroller. This little beauty has become my best friend lately. We've shared many miles together and shed a few pounds. Plus when it gives me the view below what more could a girl ask for.

Photadaymay

Lately I've been in a bloggy funk. When it comes to posting on the ol' blog I've got nothing to say or am to lazy to actually do anything about what I would like to say. This isn't going over well with the mister who now gets his family interaction from checking the blog from his tent each night. It's also sad for me when I read back on old posts and there isn't much to read, yes I read my own blog quite regularly. I'm cool like that.

So in order to hopefully get me out of my bloggy funk I'm stealing a little inspiration from instagram and fatmumslim's photoaday challenge. Hopefully this will get me taking more pictures and writing about them so Chris can feel somewhat involved in our life.

Today's topic was grass. We went for a walk today and took a pit stop on Josh and Kenzie's luscious little piece of grass. Paisley was a big fan of the green stuff and Huntley was a big fan of the Popsicle they gave her even if she refused to speak to them. Sometimes uncle Josh is scary.

And for future reference fire call number one happened today. It was my birthday present to Chris. No I didn't start a forest fire but I did pray he'd get a big candle to blow out and that should satisfy him. Happy birthday chris!!!
