Big Boots To Fill

Life has been pretty busy around our house lately. Chris has left us for 19 other wannabe firefighters and an engine. We've been managing as well as two little girls can on their own. I take care of bringing in the money and Huntley is now taking over sending it out. She's very confident in her abilites to fill those shoes. Five weeks down 10 more to go!

Lips

When Huntley was born, the first thing the doctor proclaimed was "Wow, look at those lips!" She definitely took after Chris in that matter and had a big beautiful mouth. Well she has kept that mouth but last night decided to enhance it. I walked in from work and started to play with her only to literally watch her lips start growing.

We decided to take her to the instacare and by the time we got there she looked like she'd stole Angelina Jolie's lips, they were huge! I was freaking out inside and it didn't help that the receptionist saw us and immediately got a nurse to check her out. Luckily all is well and she just had an allergic reaction. As soon as she had allergy medication they started to deflate just as fast as they grew. By the time we got home and I was able to take pictures they were half the size they had been but still pretty big. As for the culprit, the only thing different she's been eating was Jelly Bellies but what kind of a weird allergy would that be.

Traditions

As Huntley is getting older, Chris and I thought is would be a good idea to start some family traditions of our own around the holidays. Chris really wanted to go sledding and make that a traditions we would do every year. On Christmas Eve we bundled Huntley up and headed out to a little sledding hill excited to start our very own tradition.

We may be postponing this tradition until Huntley is a little older.

No Pictures

Yesterday was our ward breakfast with Santa, along with the Davis family Christmas party. Of course Santa was at both events and I've been looking forward to putting Huntley through the joys of sitting on Santa's lap and taking pictures of her in tears. Well I don't have pictures of this event that every parent participates in each year. Why?

Chicken Pox!!!

Huntley has picked the most exciting week of the year to be quarantined to the house. No pictures on Santa's lap, no pictures of rolling around in the balls at the Davis family Christmas party, no pictures experiencing the joy of the holidays with Russell. The only pictures we have are of a poor red spotted little girl but since they are immodest I can't even share them on the blog. I guess we still have plenty of years to come to take lots of pictures.

Adventures in Christmas Tree Cutting

Saturday we had our annual Christmas Tree Cutting Extraveganza. The past two years we've been able to cut trees in our own backyard but this year we went back to good ol' Oak City Canyon. Since the weather has been so nice we were suprised when there was actually snow, too bad we didn't think to bring sleds. We started our adventure finding our perfect little tree that looks amazing in our cute little apartment. Afterwards Chris found the tree above for Kristi and Rob. It took both him and Josh to carry the tree out and will probably take up their whole great room. We tied it on top of our suv and the whole ride home wished we would have dug it up by the roots and been driving a station wagon, wouldn't Chris make a great Clark Griswold!

After we finished with our trees, my aunt and I decided to go find my grandpa and see if he needed help. We wandered through the woods and soon found my grandpa in the middle of a cluster of bushes and trees cutting the top of a tree off clear above his head. This was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen. The tree fell over only to get stuck in the tops of all of the bushes. All three of us had to find long sticks to try and push the tree out. Chris found us like that, which was probably the funniest thing he had ever seen, and helped us get it out of the bushes.

To end the day off we played bumper cars while trying to drive out of the canyon. Luckily no permanent damage was done to any of the vehicles and we all survived.

Survivors

Things we've survived lately:

• Our first 5K-Chris and I ran a 5K early Thanksgiving morning with my family. My main motivation was so I could eat extra pie but also so I could say I did it. Well I did it but was kind of embaressed when there was little kids passing me.
• Thanksgiving Dinner-eating back a million times more the calories we burned during our run.
• My first week at my new job-gotta love being the new girl but after the first week I'm feeling pretty confident and excited. If anybody needs new cabinets I've got connections!
• Chris's first week as a "stay at home mom"-if you ask him it drove him crazy but he actually does a better job than me. I don't know how he manages to actually keep the house clean during the day.

Monkey Business

I'm glad Huntley has always been kind of a wimpy little girl. She's never been into taking risks and being dangerous. Lately though she has figured out how to climb. Mostly it's just on the couch and chairs, nice soft padded stuff. Well tonight as I was making dinner Huntley was playing in the fridge. One of her favorite past times is cleaning and organizing it. I wasn't really paying attention to her and then I heard weird noises coming from the fridge and the door was shut. I opened it up and found Huntley just chillin. I guess I now get to deal with the monkey climbing stage.
