Birthday Girls

For the first time in the history of their coexistence, my girls actually got to celebrate their own birthdays instead of having a combined affair.  I actually made two different cakes, it's kind of a big deal. 

 Huntley had school the day of her birthday so actually having to plan for her day was pretty easy.  After school she wanted to do a "family activity" and then eat hotdogs and cake for dinner.  Easy peasy.  Until Chris changed up the originally planned family activity and made it a lot more intense but we'll get to that later on. 

 Paisley's birthday was pretty simple too.  I had a doctors appointment that day so we told her she could pick anything she wanted to do in the "big town."  She picked getting a snow cone.  Three is seriously my favorite age.  Since all of the snow cone shacks were closed we bought her a slurpee and she was happy as could be the rest of the day. 

 Now for the "family activity" and how Chris has now ruined us for all future birthdays and Christmas's for the rest of our children's lives.  The day of Huntley's birthday Chris was placing an ad on craigslist and after he was done he went and looked at the horses that were for sale.  He saw that our neighbor had just posted an ad for two of her horses and that they were perfect "kids" horses.  He called her up and arranged for the girls to go ride them after we picked Huntley up from school. 

 After picking Huntley up we told her we were going to go horseback riding for her birthday in case things didn't actually work out.  The girls both had a blast, the horses were perfect and from someone we knew and trusted, so by the end of the afternoon we became horse owners.  Talk about some serious birthday spoiling. 

 The past two weeks we've pretty much been spending all of our time welcoming Hank and Tiny to our family.  I was a little nervous about having to take care of them when Chris was gone but so far the horses seem like angels compared to the things the dogs have put me through.  Plus now my morning walk with Pais on the back of a horse instead of sitting in the stroller just makes me laugh.
