This is My Life

Being a stay at home mom is hard and for me it's a whole lot harder than being a working mom. Especially being the stay at home mom who is stuck at home helping their kids and themself adjust to life after a vacation. Yesterday the day ended with lots of tears and I told Chris that I wasn't any good at the whole stay at home mom thing and I wanted to go back to work.

So I did.

I've been working from home a few hours each week so today I decided I would go back to work.

It was wonderful.

Everyone was excited to see me and everything I did was noticed and appreciated. I was able to start and finish something, several somethings. I had lots of conversations with others and none of them included the word why. And the best part, not once did someone bite me when they didn't like what I told them to do.

Then I came home and life was pretty much the same as it had been the past few days. We cleaned up several messes, answered the question why five million times, had arguments over clothes, changed several diapers, and I got bit once.

But I was different.

I did enjoy my day at work and feeling like I accomplished something but in the long run I realized that was only a temporary joy compared to the joy I get from spending time with my girls. Mixed in with our not so good moments were some really great ones. Like having Huntley help me make lunch, cuddling Paisley before she went down for a nap, and traveling under the sea while we pretended we were mermaids during bath time. My paycheck as a mom might not be much according the the worlds standards but in the eternal perspective I'm going to be one rich lady.

Disneyland!!!!

We spent last week in the 80 degree weather visiting Neverland, having tea parties, defeating the evil emperor Zurg, sailing the Carribean with pirates, and having all of our wishes come true! It was the best vacation ever and did I mention it was 80 degrees. We definitely enjoyed our time in the magical kingdom and I'm still having withdrawals and constantly checking my phone for how long the wait lines are. I wish we could live at Disney and I think my girls would agree. Paisley would squeal with delight and Huntley would go on everything they would let her on. Mickey we will be back soon and maybe next time we will be brave enough to say hi.

Farewell to an Old Friend

Last week we had sad day at our house. We sold our drift boat and even though it was the right thing for our family at this time it still feels like we lost a part of us. I guess in a way we did. If it weren't for that old boat Chris and I never would have met. It also was the main source of income for the first 5 years of our married life and Chris's home away from home. We had a lot of good memories rowing around in that boat and selling it has closed that chapter on our lives. So long old friend and we hope you have a lot more fish in your future.

Day at the Pool

That's right we spent today swimming like mermaids in February! Chris finally talked me into getting a pass to the Lehi pool and now I'm wondering why we waited so long. Hunt was in heaven and Pais took an awesome nap. The downside, convincing Huntley she had to wear a swim diaper even though she is big and then prying it off and putting it back on when she had to go potty.

V-Day 2012

The girlies and I had a pretty great day. We woke up with lots of hugs and kisses to start off our day of love. Our day consisted of making and eating lots of yummy food, a play date in Scott and Russell's basement park, and heart attacking with Hunt's friends. She was really into taping hearts on the first door and then the whole running away thing freaked her out and I had to carry her the rest of the night. All in all it was a great day. Chris on the other hand also had a great day with his canine friends. They were able to find a little buddy to chase into a tree. Probably the best day ever in his book.

Last but not least just for my memory I have to share Huntley's latest saying that cracks me up. Sunday after church we were eating dinner and Chris and I were talking about something. Huntley was in her own little world eating when all of a sudden she yells out, "settle down you two!" and then goes back to eating. I was laughing so hard and now wonder if she was being a little naughty during primary that day.

Girls day, tables, & hair cuts

Today me and my little ladies got to have a girls day while daddy went hunting. Since we only have one car right now I'm loving the warm weather so we can walk places. We had a great time hanging out at Target and discovering Huntley needs every other thing in the store. We came home with heart baskets that she can put her valentines in. Total spent on our girls day out shopping spree: 1 whole dollar. We love the target dollar section!

In other news, Paisley has decided to join us at the dinner table. She looks so big sitting there happily banging away on her tray. The fact she doesn't even get any food doesn't even seem to phase her.Huntley has been embracing her inner trailer park roots. I knew having a baby in Vernal and living in a trailer was going to haunt me one day. The picture doesn't do this justice but her outfit today was awesome. The icing on the cake was her ending the day by giving herself a haircut. What haircut would totally go with this awesome ensemble? A mullet of course. I'm just glad it's hideable and that it wasn't so short I had to cut all of her hair off!
