2018-6

Sunday in California was spent with all of the family watching the superbowl.  I'm bummed I didn't take any pictures but the kids had such a great time playing cards and catch and getting lots of attention from all of their aunts and uncles.
Monday we spent the day at the beach.
I'm thinking a beach vacation is going to be a must half way through winter from now on.
Nini bought the kids a sand box kit from CVS and they could have stayed playing in the sand the entire day.
Mav was afraid of the water but having dirt and a truck made for the perfect day for him.

Tuesday we went down to explore cannery row.
 Run, Forest, Run.
We had a great time at the aquarium.
Mav loved exploring all of the touch pools and could have stayed there for hours.
 Mandatory picture in the shell.
And our favorite part of the aquarium.
The entire day we kept trying to get a picture of Maverick and Colten together, but this is the best we got.

Mav picked out a squid hat too but was over it after a few minutes.  Chris then wore it the entire time we were at the aquarium.  They both rocked it.
And after we had to get one last hour at the beach.
 I have no words.
Taking these two to the grocery store is always a challenge.
Wednesday we left the sand behind for snow.  Not much snow but I'm now a big fan of skiing in warm weather.
The kids were obsessed with the huge pine cones we found all over Tahoe.  Pais hid hers and after our second day skiing found it and we brought it home.
Little kids in ski gear might possible be the cutest thing ever.
And this pretty much sums up Mav's experience at Diamond peak.
Pais on the other hand couldn't wait to ski and nothing scared her.
She fell once or twice and then took off like she'd been skiing all her life.
Pretty soon she was teaching me how to ski.
And since she was doing so good Chris dragged me off the bunny hill.  I cried.
And now for a whole bunch of selfies on chair lifts.

That night Mav got wild and had shots of chocolate milk.
Friday was round two of skiing.
Mav and Nini had a great time at the park.
The views at Diamond Peak were so awesome.
And that pretty much sums up my pictures of day two.  These three left me for bigger and better things and I hung out making friends with other people who equally lacked my skill at skiing.
Saturday was a take it easy day before we had to make the long trek home.
We played at a really cool park on the beach of Lake Tahoe.
Pais was pretty mad about not being able to swim.

Afterwards we introduced our kids to the bright and shiny world of casinos.  They seriously loved walking though them.  Shiny lights and the smell of cinnabon, every kids dream.
We spent way too much time playing this candy game in the arcade.  The kids were obsessed and it wouldn't stop going even though we only put in one token.
The other highlight of the casino, escalators.
Proof we really are insane and drove 16 hours.

2018-5

We've started getting daylight a little later and being able to actually do things after works is pretty dang awesome.  Even if you eat it really hard at the ice rink and your kids laugh at you.
Mav got a birthday present in the mail from Ma and Pa.
Now he can be an official fireman will all of his trucks.
Paisley celebrated 100 day at school and brought home what she will look like when she turns 100.  I die laughing every time I look at this.
The girls had dentist appointments.  There's nothing that can make me feel like the best/worst parent ever than a visit to the dentist.
Mav helped me trim goat hoofs and was really nice to give them all kisses and treats while I was filing.
All of the books I read about goats talk about how they are "highly intelligent animals."  Ummm, Chrysanthemum makes me question that.
And now for a drastic change of scenery.  After a 16 hour drive through the night we finished the week off in California.
It was 72 degrees of pure bliss.
Or pure sugar.

2018-4

Naaachooo!!!!
You know it's going to be a good week when you're gifted a Nacho Libre mask.
The girls both brought home their science fair ribbons.
Lately I've been loaning the girls money at different places when they want stuff and don't happen to have any money on them.
I finally made them pay up their debt and they chose chores instead of actual cash.
Mav just thought it was fun to help.
 Paisley lost her second tooth.
Friday Maverick turned three!!!  Three is my favorite birthday.  They have the funniest little requests and it's so easy to make it the best day ever.  Request number one, Lucky Charms for breakfast.
The past month whenever I asked Mav about his birthday his response was fire.  It didn't matter if you were asking about presents, cake, dinner, etc, he answered with fire.
My little part time gig at the fire department finally came in handy and I took him on his very own personal tour.
Chris thought I was lame because I didn't turn on any of the lights but I didn't know how.  I pay the bills, and have nothing to do with any sort of actual fire fighting.
Either way I still think Mav thought the entire experience was awesome.
Even if he did hide his face in the majority of the pictures I took.
Next we were able to go to Paisley's school.  She received the Good Citizen award for her class during the second quarter.
She even got it the same day as one of her besties, Jackie.
Mav also had to suffer through errands.  Luckily the post office had a bench for him to relax on.
We went to the library for my monthly check out of the goat book.  I really should just buy my own but it gives me an excuse to go to the library.  Mav was able to do all the puzzles and play with the legos.  All of the librarians couldn't believe he was already 3.  They all took their fair share of turns holding him when he was a baby and had to be held All. The. Time.
Last of all we went to the pharmacy for lunch where he ate all the jam packets on the table and stole my lunch instead of eating his own.
He was able to open presents when we got home and was gifted with lots of, you guessed it, firetrucks.
His cake was super lame but since my cake decorating skills leave a lot to be desired, we just stuck a fire truck on top of a store bought cake.
Mary Ann and Jeffery gave him a book all about a robot and it came with a kit to make your own robot.  He lost interest in that pretty fast but his sisters were nice enough to build it for him.
And Mav was pretty happy with the results.
