Obessions

After our last adventure I vetoed us from ever going back to Adventure Land Lake.  It was just a little too gross for my taste but since we are too cheap to take our kids to the actual pool we decided we'd go check out the other little pond in the valley.  We went for a drive last Saturday to check it out without intending to go swimming but both girls ended up in the water anyways.  (Which then led to some awesome naked doorbell ditching that I'm sure Ta'Merra will never forget.)  This lake didn't gross me out so we made plans to go back Monday for FHE and then just ended up going every day the entire week.  It's our newest obsession and I plan on letting it continue.  So if you ever find yourself bored in the last few days of the summer, grab a chair and head on over, we'll save you some sand.

Adventures in August

Now that we can leave the house we can actually have some fun.  We've spent time riding bikes.  Hunt finally got the guts to try out her brand new bike and is riding it like a pro.
Pais is rocking the balance bike and loves feeling like she is as big as everyone else.

Our biggest adventure was going out to Adventureland and swimming in the lake.  The girls seriously loved it.
Who wouldn't love running down a duck pooped covered hill and swimming with dead bloated carp.
I think that might be one adventure that we don't repeat.
We also jumped on the Waffleluv band wagon and had fun finding the waffle truck for dinner.
This adventure would be repeated on a daily basis if I had the $$$.
Last but not least I found the girls in the above pose after baths one day.  They stayed like that for 15 minutes with an extreme case of giggles.  I love when adventures end with the giggles.

Good Riddance July

One of the greatest blessings our family has is good health.  We rarely have to go to the doctor and typically don't catch the illnesses that are floating around.  Beyond eating tons of fruit and veggies I don't really know why we stay so healthy but I'll take it.

Unfortunately this past month we've spent more time at the doctor than we have in the past few years combined.  July started off with an ear infection for Pais, my knee drama, and we rounded the month out with Hunt coming down with whooping cough and having to let the county health department know and spend a few days in quarantine.  No they didn't come cover to our house with caution tape and signs saying "beware" like I imagined when we were told the health dept. had to be notified.  In fact I always thought if you came down with some disease that you'd been vaccinated for it would be a really big deal, it wasn't.  The hardest part was listening to Hunt complain about not being able to play with her friends.  Maybe they should invent a vaccine for whining and hopefully it would be more effective than the ones we've currently had.

Fountains

While Nini was here we thought it would be fun to go up to Temple Square and show her all of the pretty flowers.  Since it was a hot summer day the girls were touching and splashing in the fountains. Pretty soon we got to the big reflecting pool and were given the following look:
 Which of course translates to
"It's so hot and my feet just need to cool off and everyone else is doing it"
And since Nini was here and there was no signs anywhere saying you can't play in the fountain we said why not.  And the girls happily splashed their toes in the fountain.
Until we looked over and more than feet were being placed in the water.
And since little sis did it, big sis had to try it out too.
So mean mom made us get out and walk around, where we ended up at the fountain by the Conference Center and threw all caution to the wind and jumped right in.
So mom went and hid afraid of getting yelled at by scary men in suits while the girls, dad, and nini had a wonderful afternoon wading in the fountains.

Sweet Surprises

Friday morning we woke the girls up super early.  We told them we had a surprise for them and that we got to go watch airplanes at the Provo Airport.  Hunt thought we were a little weird but went with the flow.  Luckily for us the Provo Airport is pretty small so when we got there we walked in the airport and could see right out to the runway and the planes.  After a few minutes Hunt thought we were crazy and wondered why this was such a great surprise and could we just leave.  Luckily for us she humored us when we kept stalling and ended up being super surprised when Nini came walking around the corner.
The past week we were supposed to go to Monterey but since I wasn't feeling up to navigating the airport by myself with two kids on crutches Nini came to us instead.  When Nini is hear we are all smiles.  We go to all of our favorite places and as Hunt has figured it's not hard to talk Nini into buying us things that Mom usually says no to.

The following outfit is proof of that.  Hunt is now obsessed with these pants and all the bling she got to go with them.
Unfortunately the weekend came to an end all to fast and now we are sitting around super sad.  I think we should have let these two really try and get Nini's luggage to the plane.  The way they were gong Nini would have missed her flight and could have stayed forever.

Steele Days

Our town celebration has come and gone and since I wasn't able to attend the festivities I had to rely on Chris for pictures and Hunt for the commentary for the blog post.  Huntley did a great job helping me choose which pictures to use and answering my never ending questions about her adventures.

Jess: What was your favorite part about Steele days?
Hunt: ummm, what? tell me again?
J: Steele Days
H: Oh, going to the carnival.
J:Why?
H: pirate ride and yellow slide
 J: What else?
H: That picture, you see it.
J: Did you do anything else fun?
H: Nope
J: Did Pais have fun?
H: Yep.
J: What did she like?
H: I don't know, she didn't ride the cowboy one.
J: Anything else?
H: Russell had fun on the ferris wheel.
J: Anything else you want me to write?
H: I'll tell you after you make me cookies.
The last comment was met with a look similar to the one in the above picture.  The things I go through to keep this blog updated.

The Camping Trip that Wasn't

Last time we went camping we would spend our nights driving down dirt roads looking for animals.  During one of these drives we found the most amazing campsite ever with views that were gorgeous.  We aren't photographers at all but even our crappy picture taking skills can't kill how amazing the view was.
So when we decided to go camping a few days ago we knew we had to go to this spot.  The weather wasn't the best but we figured the thunderstorms would pass through quickly and from our spot we'd be able to watch different storms happening in two different valleys.  It was going to be the best camping trip ever.  In fact the two hours it lasted were pretty great.
Chris and Hunt were able to go on a great bike ride, we had fun cutting fire wood, eating dinner in the trailer, and watching the lightning and pouring rain pound on Heber.
After dinner we could tell the storm was headed our way so we decided to hurry up and roast marshmallows while we had the chance.  Chris took the majority of the pictures on this camping trip.  I only took the following three.  I took this picture of Chris and the girls building a fire.  Then I noticed there was some pretty crazy lightning going on behind us and how cool would it be if I could get a picture of them building a fire with the lightning in the background.
On my way I laughed at Izzy and took a picture of her hiding by the trailer, scared of the thunder and lightning.
Apparently laughing at Izzy was a bad idea and she took out revenge by accompanying me on the walk to get the view of the perfect picture I wanted.  While we were walking a loud crash of thunder scared her and she ran under my legs.  Instead of the picture I had envisioned I got a picture of this:
The picture doesn't really do it justice but if you look in the bottom that's my knee cap that should actually be more in the middle.  I hate stuff like this and don't know why I took the picture as I was laying on the ground crippled let alone am posting it on the blog but I am.  The next few minutes were a little crazy as I freaked out which led to a chain reaction of Paisley freaking out and Huntley demanding that I look at her eyes while she sang "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam" over and over to both of us trying to keep us calm.  Chris had the fun job of popping my knee back in place and loading everything up to go home.  On top of all this of course the storm hit and lasted only for the time it took us to get on the road.
After getting back in the valley the girls got to have a sleepover at my parents while Chris and I had a fun date in the ER.  Not exactly a pleasant date but definitely good for some people watching.  Now the rest of the summer is a mystery to all of us.  Who knows what adventures I'll be posting on the blog.  They'll have to be one-legged ones.
