Nine

Nine.  The number of days it takes after fighting a fire before you lose your ode to smoky wilderness perfume. 

 So if you didn't get it from that the season is OVER!!!!  Last week Chris got home from Montana and had two days off.  Then due to the cold weather we had roll in we got lucky and they decided to call it good for this season.  Good bye fellow hotshots!

So what have we been up to lately, a whole lot.  Or at least we attempted to be up to lots of stuff.  We started last Wednesday off with a hike to see the leaves up Grovecreek.  It was freezing but the colors were awesome and the company even better.  Plus Huntley has all of a sudden turned into a crazy hiking woman and I love watching her book it up a mountain.

Afterwards we decided even though the weather was crappy enough to end fire season it was still good enough to try and get my garden ready for next season.  Currently we have planters all over the backyard and it was definitley not dog friendly.  Chris, being the awesome husband he is or maybe he's sick of phone calls with me whining about the dogs eating my veggies, decided to dig out a portion of our yard and build me a cute little picket fence 24x16 area of happiness.  Unfortunatley an hour into the project the man threw his back out moving a piece of sod and has been laid up on the couch ever since.  How do you dig fire line 16 hours a day for 5 months straight and be fine but hurt yourself moving a piece of grass is beyond me but luckily it was the end of the season so he has plenty of time to rest.  Meanwhile I still had to take care of the sod we already had and Paisley was kind enough to help out by eating the excess dirt. 

 Pais also had her very first hairdo this past week and looked pretty adorable rocking her pony tail.  Too bad her halloween costume is already made or else she would have been a cute little Pebbles.

Last but not least our favorite friend B had a birthday and took us with her to the zoo.  It was the perfect day for a zoo outing and seeing all the baby animals was pretty fun too.
