Field Trip Number 2

Last week Huntley had her second field trip for preschool and this time it was to Farmer Grant's Pumpkin Patch.  Kind of weird since I used to go on field trips to Farmer Grant's when I was in school.   Both girls had a blast and could have had their pictures taken in the cardboard cut outs all day long.  If we had time I would have let them because it was pretty funny to watch Paisley's little head poking out.

This weekend we spent time doing the usual; canning, hiking, and enjoying conference.  I didn't take one picture.  I miss my phone.  Want to know some good news?  7 more days until I can have a new one.  Want to know some better news? 6 more days and Chris will be home for a few days.  Want to know the best news?  We'll only have to endure one more tour until the season is over.  Which means if all goes right I only have roughly 22 days left of single momhood.  I think I'll go make myself a paper chain to countdown the days.  Big things need to be celebrated with a paper chain.

Crazy Huntley Girl

Huntley stole the camera from me the other day.  She had a blast running around the yard and taking pictures of everything.  I wanted to do a post so I'd always remember the world from her eyes at this age but honestly I had no idea what to write about.  The pictures kind of speak for themselves.  Luckily life with Huntley never is dull and last night was one of those nights that I want to remember for when she has kids someday.
Saturday night Huntley woke me up with a nasty barky cough, great croup.  We actually haven't had to deal with croup very often so I really shouldn't complain but I hate going to the doctor.  Last month at her yearly checkup she freaked out and kicked the doctor so I was content to just let it run it's course.  Then my mom watched her last night while I was at YW and she thought it would probably be a good idea to have her checked out so I figured we'd just run over to the after hours clinic.  Plus that way Ta'Merra could come help me in case we had a repeat of last month.
We got to the doctors office and we were the only ones there so they took us right back.  Huntley did great with the nurse and the first part with the doctor.  Then he tried to look in her ears and apparently that is pretty traumatic because she started to freak out.  Luckily for him she was sitting on my lap so he didn't get kicked but yes she did have croup.  The nurse came back in with some steroids mixed in chocolate syrup.  We had to force it down Hunt's throat which is weird since she normally loves to take her "meds."  Yes she is a miniature version of my mother.  After forcing it down she proceeded to throw it back up all over me, the floor, Mera, and everything else.  It was awesome.  At this point they decided a shot would be best and you can imagine how well that went down.  The rest of the night she screamed and cried and refused to walk.  Chris called and was able to calm her down and she sat and told him she had a good day and the doctor was fun.  Then she crashed in her bed and I took a shower.

Today she woke up and is doing much better.  She hopped out of bed and then joined me doing a work out video.  We were going about our day like normal until she had to get dressed.  Hunt took one look at the band aid and immediately started freaking out about how much her leg hurt.  The next hour she couldn't walk and life was horrible.  Of course this all happened while I had an installer here fixing our Internet.  Next time I'll remember to take the band aid off during the night.

Try, Try Again

A few weeks ago I promised an awesome post on the joys of making applesauce.  That didn't happen so when today turned into a fun filled apple pie filling making day I figured that was pretty darn close to applesauce and I might as well right a post on the joys of that.
Paisley woke up in a super good mood today.  She's been a little under the weather lately so I figured if she was getting back to her normal self I might as well take advantage of it and get back to canning.  I think once I drug her over to the neighbors to pick apples she probably was wondering why she decided to wake up in a good mood.
Huntley is my little peeler, corer, slicer pro.  She loves that job and could sit there all day turning away.  It makes my job really easy.  I just had to wash apples and fill the jars with what she gave me.  Child labor is the best.
After we filled our jars we covered them in some yummy, gooey sauce and sealed them up.  Easy Peasy.  This was actually our first time ever making apple pie filling and I got the recipe from my sister in-law.  On the card she wrote that instead of apple pie filling it was actually heaven.  I only tasted a little bite and she nailed it with that description.  I'm actually hoping that tomorrow I'll find one of my jars didn't seal and we'll have to eat it.  Wouldn't that be sad.

We interupt this reularly scheduled program....

due to a dead iphone and the end of life as I knew it.  Last Thursday I took a million pictures on the joys of making applesauce and was all prepared to right a novel on that wonderful subject but that was obviously a bad idea.  I was babysitting for a friend and during the process Paisley dumped a bottle on the floor and then placed my phone in the puddle.  Not so good.  Rice didn't do the trick so I'm using my sisters phone until my upgrade in two weeks.  At least she timed it handy and I can get my same phone for free.  Thank you iphone 5.

Now I've had to learn to live life with out my other appendage and Paisley had her first pictures taken on an actual camera.  How did she live a year without that happening!

 Last week in a nutshell:

Friday: Driving around trying to figure out phone issues and dealing with stress by going to Dipidee.
Saturday:  yard saleing in the morning for canning jars but ended up with four new chairs instead.
Sunday: Church without my kids, heavenly
Monday: Chris came home with flowers-yay!!!  Greeted by a puking wife-not so yay :(
Tuesday: Couch and movie day which was actually really nice
Wednesday: Chris and I went on a date.  It may have just been mini golf and J Dawgs but it was nice!
Thursday: Chris's turn being sick so more canning for me.
Friday: Chris off to Idaho and the girls and I counting down the last 6 weeks of the season.

Entertainment

Tonight I got to talk to Chris. It's been awhile since I've been lucky enough to hear his voice and even though he hasn't been able to talk to us he still is able to keep tabs on us from the comfort of his sleeping bag. Unfortunately I've not given much for him to keep tabs on but when we are doing nothing but canning I don't really take a whole lot of pictures. On the plus side life is so boring for the girlies last weeks trip to the grocery store was a treat. Especially when Hunt pretended to ride in the toys. No I didn't put money in it and she still loved it, that's how boring life has been. So stay tuned for tomorrow, an exciting post on the joys of canning applesauce.

Paisley's Pears

Life has been dull lately. Possibly due to the fact it's been limited to the kitchen except for a quick lunch date yesterday and an unsuccessful search all over Utah County for a canner. Luckily I have cute help.

Red Neck Clothesline

The tramp is good for more than just entertainment.
